Spend for Success, Not to Impress

Keeping up with all the latest trends is exhausting – not only for you, but for your wallet as well! But saving your money doesn’t have to mean lowering your standards if you know how to shop savvy.

1.) Ditch the Designers.

Don’t pay more for an item simply because of the name on the tag. If you do buy any brand-name items, never pay full price! Search for discounted prices online or at bargain stores such as T.J. Maxx. Avoid shopping without a specific item in mind, otherwise you may end up spending more than you meant to.

2.) Avoid Temptation.

Do you find yourself craving a latte when you drive past Starbucks on your way to work? Does a walk of innocent window shopping often turn into a spending frenzy? The best solution is to avoid these temptations altogether. Find another route to the office and take a walk through nature instead, and your wallet will thank you.

3.) Have fun for Free.

Even a date night at the movies can come with a big price tag. A better solution? Coming up with creative ideas for fun nights out for less (but if you don’t feel like being creative, just input “free date ideas” in any search engine).

4.) Burn Calories…Not Cash.

Exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, but gym memberships can be pricey. Don’t compromise health for wealth – work out at home! Exercise gear such as resistance bands, weights, and kettle balls are low-cost, big-impact investments in your health. Run or walk outside when weather permits, and look into cardio DVDs for the winter.
